Denny Caldwell begins his third season as an Express assistant coach. His coaching experience includes previously serving as the boy's head volleyball coach at Springfield High School from 1990-93. In addition, Caldwell served as men's head volleyball coach at the University of Toledo from 1990-91 and at Bowling Green State University from 1974-75. The Columbus North High School graduate also was the women's head volleyball coach at Eastern Michigan University in 1976.

Caldwell earned his bachelor's degree in health and physical education from The Ohio State University. While at Ohio State, he was a member of the school's volleyball program where he earned the Most Improved Player Award and Ohio Valley Regional All Star honors. In addition, Caldwell's volleyball experience includes previously serving as team captain for the USA Senior National Volleyball Team. In 2008, he received a bronze medal in the USAV National Championships Men's 55 and was a member of the Continental Cup Champions (USA vs. Canada) in 2004, 2005 and 2006. Caldwell also received a master's degree in health and physical education from Bowling Green State University. He currently works as a volunteer coordinator at Mercy Memorial Hospital System and resides in Monroe, Mich.
