With Sweep Of Lakeland CC, No. 16 Express Volleyball Inches Closer To OCCAC Title

Toledo, OH---The No. 16 Express volleyball team swept Lakeland Community College 25-11, 25-10, 25-15 in the SHAC tonight to move closer to an OCCAC championship.

Alyssa Meis (13) and Dakia Sellers (10) each had double figures in kills, while Jazmine Thomas added eight. Molly Hilfinger had 30 of the team's 32 assists, while Lisa Urbanski (17) and Brandi Schimming (16) led the way in digs. Thomas had four of the team's nine assisted blocks, while Meis added three. Thomas, Dominique Yates and Hilfinger each had one solo block. Meis led the team with five aces.

Overall, the Express had 36 kills, 32 assists, 60 digs, three solo blocks, nine assisted blocks and seven service aces.

The Express (25-7 overall, 10-0 OCCAC) can clinch at least a share of the OCCAC championship with a win against Sinclair Community College on Oct. 24. An Oct. 26 matchup against Columbus State Community College, who sits one game back in second place, could determine an outright champion.

The next action for the Express will be this weekend (Oct. 18-20) in the Kishwaukee Invitational. They will then close out their regular season with the matches against Sinclair CC and Columbus State CC.
