Express Volleyball Loses to No. 2 Parkland and No. 5 Illinois Central, Wraps Up Play in Parkland Invitational

Champaign, IL---The Express volleyball team lost two matches to top five teams in the final day of the Parkland Invitational this afternoon.

Match 1: No. 2 Parkland College d. Owens 25-13, 25-12, 25-16

Jazmine Thomas led the Express with seven kills, while Kenzie Kleinhenz had four. Jessica Cooper and Ciarra Wirick each had 10 assists, while Wirick added 10 digs. Cooper (9), Lisa Urbanski (9), Kennedy Geyman (7) and Aricka LaVoy (6) also contributed in digs. Thomas and Tiffani Hobbs each had a team-high two blocks.

Match 2: No. 5 Illinois Central College d. Owens 22-25, 25-11, 25-16, 25-22

Wirick and Kleinhenz each led the team with seven kills, while Hobbs and Kayla Siefker each added five. Wirick led the way in assists with 17, while Cooper added 13. Urbanski had a team-high 26 digs, while Cooper added 12 and LaVoy added 11. Thomas led the team with five blocks.

Notes

The Express (9-10 overall) will resume OCCAC play in their next match on Sept. 27 against Edison Community College at 6 p.m. 

The four matches over the past two days were part of the Parkland Invitational in Champaign, IL. The host school was Parkland College.
