Wirick's Stellar Day Leads Express Volleyball on First Day of Kishwaukee Invitational

Rockford, IL---Ciarra Wirick (Benjamin Logan/West Liberty, OH) had a solid day overall as the Express volleyball team captured two wins in three matches on the first day of the Kishwaukee Invitational.

Match 1: Owens d. Carl Sandburg College 25-23, 25-15, 25-13

Wirick led the Express with eight kills and 24 assists, while finished third on the team with 13 digs. 

Tiffani Hobbs (Central Catholic/Toledo, OH), Kenzie Kleinhenz (St. Henry/St. Henry, OH) and Jazmine Thomas (Lima Senior/Lima, OH) each added six kills. Jessica Cooper (Brandywine/Niles, MI) was second on the team with 13 assists, while Lisa Urbanski (Notre Dame Academy/Toledo, OH) had a team-high 22 digs. Kennedy Geyman (Jefferson/Monroe, MI) added 12 digs, and Thomas led the team with four blocks.

Match 2: Owens d. Rock Valley College 25-11, 25-15, 25-15

Wirick produced team-highs in kills, while finishing second on the team in assists (16) and digs (10) in today's second match. She added one block.

Cooper led the Express in assists with 17, while Urbanski produced 19 digs. Cooper and Aricka LaVoy (Eastwood/Pemberville, OH) each had a team-high three aces, while Thomas had six blocks.

Match 3: Moraine Valley CC d. Owens 17-25, 25-15, 25-14, 25-23

For the third straight match, Wirick led the team in kills with 13. She added a team-high 15 assists and was second on the team with 16 digs.

Urbanski led the team in digs with 24, while also adding a team-high three aces. Cooper added 14 assists. Thomas and Kleinhenz each had a team-high four blocks.

Notes

The Express (16-17 overall) will play Kishwaukee College at 9 a.m. (CT) tomorrow before facing Harper College at 1 p.m. (CT) to close out their action in the Kishwaukee Invitational.

The Express previously defeated Kishwaukee in straight sets on Sept. 1.

Rock Valley College is the defending NJCAA D-III national champion. The Express compete at the NJCAA D-II level. Harper College is also an NJCAA D-III team.
