Turner-Smith Produces Season-High 10 Kills As Express Volleyball Splits Pair of Matches in Kishwaukee Invitational

Rockford, IL---The Express volleyball team split a pair of matches today as they closed out play the Kishwaukee Invitational.

Match 1: Kishwaukee College d. Owens 25-20, 25-22, 25-21

Ciarra Wirick (Benjamin Logan/West Liberty, OH) led the Express with 11 kills, 14 assists, nine digs and one block in today's first match. Sara Turner-Smith (Cardinal Stritch/Toledo, OH) added a season-high 10 kills as she produced her first double-digit kill total of her first collegiate season.

Jessica Cooper (Brandywine/Niles, MI) added 11 assists, and Lisa Urbanski (Notre Dame Academy/Toledo, OH) had a team-high 20 digs. Cooper added 10 digs. 

Three players added two blocks apiece.

Match 2: Owens d. Harper College 25-16, 25-20, 25-11

Kenzie Kleinhenz (St. Henry/St. Henry, OH) led the Express in kills with 11, while Wirick added eight. Wirick had a team-high 27 assists, while Cooper added 12. Once again, Urbanski led the team with 20 20, while Wirick added 11. Turner-Smith tied her second-highest dig total of the season with eight. Jazmine Thomas (Lima Senior/Lima, OH) led the team with six blocks.

The Express are now 17-18 overall this year. Their next action is Oct. 23 at home against Lorain County Community College at 6 p.m. They have a total of four matches remaining in regular season play.
