Geyman, Express Volleyball Rolls Past Schoolcraft to Open Region XII Tourney Action

Grand Rapids, Mich.---The Express volleyball team opened Region XII District E tournament play with a 25-22, 25-14, 25-21 win over Schoolcraft College this evening.

The Ocelots had defeated the Express in straight sets earlier in the season.

Sara Turner-Smith (Cardinal Stritch/Toledo, Ohio) led the Express in kills with 11, while Jazmine Thomas (Lima Senior/Lima, Ohio), Kenzie Kleinhenz (St. Henry/St. Henry, Ohio), Tiffani Hobbs (Central Catholic/Toledo, Ohio) and Ciarra Wirick (Benjamin Logan/West Liberty, Ohio) each added six of their own.

Wirick added a team-high 19 assists, while Jessica Cooper (Brandywine/Niles, Mich.) had 14. Lisa Urbanski (Notre Dame Academy/Toledo, Ohio) had a team-high 16 digs, while Wirick added 10 and Kennedy Geyman (Jefferson/Monroe, Mich.) had seven.

Thomas had a team-high three blocks.

The Express (21-19) will now take on No. 4 Oakland Community College (30-1) at 12 p.m. tomorrow in the winner's bracket semifinals. The Raiders have won 21 straight after their straight set win over Alpena Community College tonight.
