Sophomore Setter, Cooper, Picks Up OCCAC Player of the Week Honors

Toledo, Ohio---Jessica Cooper (Brandywine/Niles, Mich.), a sophomore setter from Owens Community College, has been named the Ohio Community College Athletic Conference (OCCAC) player of the week in women's volleyball.

Cooper led Owens to a 3-0 weekend with wins over Lorain County Community College, Jackson College and Lincoln Land Community College. She led the team in assists with 75 over 11 sets, while adding four aces and 29 digs.

She had 22 assists, 11 digs and one ace in a straight set win over Lorain County, 24 assists, one ace and five digs in a four set win over Jackson and 29 assists, two aces and 13 digs in a four set win over Lincoln Land.

Cooper has led Owens to a 22-8 record and a 7-1 record in OCCAC play this year. She has totaled a team-high 597 assists, is third on the team in digs at 210 and leads the team with 45 service aces. For good measure, she has added 12 kills and two blocks.

Owens is scheduled to take on a pair of OCCAC foes this week as they host Lakeland Community College at 5 p.m. on Wednesday and travel to Sinclair Community College at 6 p.m. on Friday.
