No. 16 Owens Volleyball Wins Fifth Straight Behind 18 Kills From Hartings

Toledo, Ohio---Erika Hartings (Coldwater/Coldwater, Ohio) smashed her way to a team-high 18 kills to lead the No. 16 Owens Community College women's volleyball team to a 25-13, 25-22, 23-25, 25-14 win over Lakeland Community College in the Student Health and Activities Center (SHAC) tonight.

While hitting .375, Hartings had 18 kills, two digs and one assisted block. Not far behind her was Macy Reigelsperger (Coldwater/Coldwater, Ohio), who had 14 kills with a .444 hitting percentage. She added three digs, two solo blocks and three assisted blocks.

Ally Mikesell (St. Henry/St. Henry, Ohio) nearly had double figures in kills with nine, while adding 11 digs, a team-high four assisted blocks and a team-high three solo blocks.

Amara Hemenway (Bellevue/Bellevue, Ohio) added six kills, six digs and one assisted block.

Jessica Cooper (Brandywine/Niles, Mich.), the reigning Ohio Community College Athletic Conference (OCCAC) player of the week, produced a team-high 24 assists, as well as seven digs. Deanna Smith (Riverview/Riverview, Mich.) added 21 assists and five digs.

Aricka LaVoy (Eastwood/Pemberville, Ohio) finished third on the team in digs with eight. Cooper and Hemenway each had a team-high two aces.

Kayla Siefker (Kalida/Ottawa, Ohio) produced a .500 hitting percentage, along with three kills and three assisted blocks.

Owens is now 23-8 overall and 8-1 in OCCAC play. They have won five straight and nine of 10 heading into Friday's 6 p.m. road matchup at Sinclair Community College.

Notes

Hartings now has 12 or more blocks in five of the team's past six matches. In the only one she didn't, she had nine and is averaging nearly 14 per match over those six. Her season-high in kills is 22 vs Rock Valley on Sept. 19.

Reigelsperger has eight straight matches of at least 10 or more kills.

Wirick has eight straight matches of at least 10 or more digs.

Smith has at least 11 assists in every match this year, while Cooper has at least 10 assists in every match this year.
