Reigelsperger, Wirick Head Postseason Honors For Owens Volleyball

Toledo, Ohio---One day after concluding its season in the Region XII District E tournament, the No. 16 Owens Community College women's volleyball team had four players earn conference and/or regional postseason awards.

Sophomore defensive specialist Ciarra Wirick (Benjamin Logan/West Liberty, Ohio) and freshman middle blocker Macy Reigelsperger (Coldwater/Coldwater, Ohio) headlined the group as they earned First Team All-Ohio Community College Athletic Conference (OCCAC) and First Team All-Region XII honors. 

Reigelsperger had 500 kills (second on the team), 14 assists, 247 digs, 26 solo blocks (tied for first on team), 135 assisted blocks (first on the team) and 161 total blocks (first on the team) this year, while Wirick had a team-high 763 digs along with 52 kills and 116 assists. Reigelsperger finished eighth in the conference in kills, while Wirick finished fifth in digs in conference play.

Additionally, Wirick closed her career with 285 kills, 892 assists, 87 aces, 1100 digs and 38 blocks. 

Also earning First Team All-OCCAC honors was freshman right side hitter Erika Hartings (Coldwater/Coldwater, Ohio). She finished fourth in kills in conference play and totaled a team-high 540 kills, eight assists, 11 aces, 124 digs and 89 blocks.

Hartings and Reigelsperger became the second duo to record 500 kills each in the same season in Owens volleyball history. In fact, they are two of only six players to achieve that single season mark. Both players finished the regular season in the top five in the nation in kills. Hartings was third and Reigelsperger was fifth.

Ally Mikesell (St. Henry/St. Henry, Ohio), a freshman middle blocker, earned Honorable Mention All-OCCAC honors. She finished the season with 279 kills, 22 assists, 29 aces, 300 digs and 122 blocks (17 solo).

The Express finished 34-11 overall this year and 12-2 in OCCAC play (second place). Their season ended with a loss to No. 6 Columbus State Community College in the Region XII District E loser's bracket finals.

Hartings and Wirick each also made the Region XII District E All-Tournament team.
