Toledo, Ohio---Aricka LaVoy (Eastwood/Pemberville, Ohio), an outgoing sophomore on the Owens Community College women's volleyball team, was recently honored as a member of the 2015 All-Ohio Academic Third Team.

This past Thursday, LaVoy was recognized at the Ohio Statehouse in Columbus by Phi Theta Kappa and the Ohio Association of Community Colleges (OACC). 

As a member of the All-Ohio Third Team, LaVoy will receive a cash scholarship of $250 and an All-Ohio Academic Team medallion, certificate and pin courtesy of Honda of America Mfg., Inc.

The award marks the second time an Owens student-athlete has won the award in the past five years. In 2011, Aricka's sister, Alyssa, won the award.

Senator Gardner is scheduled to be the keynote speaker at the 49th annual Owens spring commencement ceremony on May 8.
