Toledo, Ohio---Madison Lammers, a 5'9" outside hitter from New Knoxville High School, signed with the Owens Community College volleyball program today in a ceremony at her high school.

The New Knoxville, Ohio resident became the first member of next year's recruiting class.

"When I first toured Owens, I really liked the campus," Lammers said. "It had great facilities. The first time I visited, I was practicing with the girls for open gym, and I fell in love with the team. They were very welcoming and helpful, and I just really liked the coaching staff and everything about (the program)."

Lammers is a four-year varsity letter winner for the very successful New Knoxville volleyball team. As a freshman, she broke the school's single season blocks record with 118. As a sophomore, she was named Second Team All-Midwest Athletic Conference (MAC) and was invited to the Ohio High School Coaches Association Elite Camp.

As a junior, she was named Second Team All-MAC and earned local "player of the game" honors from NKTelco Impact and Main Street Station.

This year, Lammers was named First Team All-MAC and First Team All-District 8 with 236 kills, 235 digs, 21 aces and 21 blocks so far. Most recently, she produced nine kills and 18 digs in a district championship game win over New Bremen last week.

In her high school career, Lammers has 713 kills, 234 blocks, 1,166 digs and 120 aces.

In addition to those honors and statistics, Lammers is a District 8 Senior All-Start Game participant.

"We're really excited about Madison coming to our team," said Owens Community College assistant volleyball coach Denny Caldwell. "One of the things that was very evident when we first saw her was her tenacity on the court. She's a six rotation player. I think the one thing that sticks out more than anything is her shot making ability. She has all the shots. She'll hit off speed, down the line, cross court corners. When she needs it, she can go after it."

Lammers will join a successful Owens volleyball program that is currently 34-6 overall and recently won the Ohio Community College Athletic Conference (OCCAC) with a 14-0 record. The team enters postseason play this weekend as the No. 1 seed in the Region XII District F tournament, which will be held at Owens on Friday and Saturday. The winner of this weekend's tournament will advance to the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Division II National Tournament in Arizona Nov. 17-19.

Notes

Lammers, a product of the Midwest Athletic Conference (MAC), will join an Owens program that has three MAC players departing due to graduation this coming spring. Those players are Macy Reigelsperger (Coldwater H.S.), Erika Hartings (Coldwater H.S.) and Ally Mikesell (St. Henry H.S.).

Reigelsperger recently eclipsed 1,000 career kills, Hartings is on the verge of doing the same thing and Mikesell has over 400 kills, nearly 800 digs and almost 150 career blocks.
