No. 9 Owens Volleyball Rises Past Lakeland, Advances To Region XII District F Winner's Bracket Finals

Toledo, Ohio---Macy Reigelsperger (Coldwater/Coldwater, Ohio) had a team-high 17 kills to lead the No. 9 Owens Community College women's volleyball team to a 25-7, 25-16, 11-25, 25-17 win over Lakeland Community College in the Region XII District F winner's bracket semifinal today.

Owens, the tournament's No. 1 seed, will now face No. 2 seed Cincinnati State Technical and Community College at 10 a.m. tomorrow in the winner's bracket final. The championship match will be at 2 p.m. with the if necessary match at 4 p.m.

Reigelsperger had 17 kills over 35 attempts with only five errors for a .343 hitting percentage. She added eight digs and four blocks (one solo). Ally Mikesell (St. Henry/St. Henry, Ohio) finished second on the team in kills with 11 (.429 hitting percentage) while adding a team-high 23 digs, one assist, one block and one ace.

Taylor Purcell (Bedford/Temperance, Mich.) and Christine Tylutki (Monroe/Monroe, Mich.) each added five kills. Deanna Smith (Riverview/Riverview, Mich.) had a team-high 25 assists, and Tylutki added 19. 

Reigelspeger and Brooke Gyori (Clay/Oregon, Ohio) each tied for the team-high in aces with two. Aside from Mikesell's 23 digs, Gyori added 18, while Smith and Samantha Reer (St. Paul/Norwalk, Ohio) each had 11.

Ashley Pleiman (Fort Loramie/Fort Loramie, Ohio) had a team-high five blocks (one solo).

Owens is now 35-6 overall entering tomorrow's action. The entire tournament is being held at Owens Community College in the Student Health and Activities Center (SHAC) and the winner will advance to the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Division II National Tournament in Phoenix, Ariz. Nov. 19-21.

Notes

With today's statistical output, Reigelsperger reached 500 career digs. She reached 1,000 career kills in the team's regular season finale, and she also has 313 career blocks.

Owens has now won 21 of its past 22 matches.
