Reigelsperger Named OCCAC Player of the Year As 2015 OCCAC Volleyball Awards Announced

Toledo, Ohio---Macy Reigelsperger (Coldwater/Coldwater, Ohio), a sophomore middle blocker for the No. 9 Owens Community College women's volleyball team, has been voted the Ohio Community College Athletic Conference (OCCAC) Player of the Year.

Reigelsperger, who also earns a First Team All-Ohio Community College Athletic Conference (OCCAC) spot with her player of the year selection, had 178 kills, 79 digs, 49 blocks (21 solo) and seven assists in conference play. Overall, she has 543 kills, nine assists, 18 aces, 264 digs and 163 blocks (58 solo) this year.

Reigelsperger, who recently eclipsed 1,000 kills, 500 digs and 300 blocks in her two-year career, is joined by Erika Hartings (Coldwater/Coldwater, Ohio) and Brooke Gyori (Clay/Oregon, Ohio) on the first team.

Hartings, a sophomore outside hitter, had 151 kills, two assists, four aces, 45 digs and 26 blocks in conference play. She has 426 kills, five assists, 23 aces, 122 digs and 79 blocks (36 solo) this year overall. 

Reigelsperger and Hartings are both two-time First Team All-OCCAC selections. Hartings is 34 kills away from 1,000 in her career.

Gyori, a freshman defensive specialist, had 292 digs, three kills, 24 assists and 28 aces in conference play. Overall, she has 829 digs, 15 kills, 69 assists, 84 aces and one block.

Ally Mikesell (St. Henry/St. Henry, Ohio), a sophomore middle blocker, was named Honorable Mention All-OCCAC. In conference play, she had 42 kills, eight assists, 13 aces, 163 digs and 11 blocks (three solo). Overall, Mikesell has totaled 163 kills, 17 assists, 38 aces, 533 digs and 55 blocks (14 solo).

Mikesell is a two-time Honorable Mention All-OCCAC selection. In her two-year career, she has 442 kills, 833 digs and 177 blocks (31 solo).

Sonny Lewis, the 15th year head coach for Owens volleyball, was named the OCCAC Coach of the Year. It was his first win since 2011, but his eighth overall since 2001.

Owens is currently 37-6 overall. They finished OCCAC play with a perfect 14-0 record, which earned them the program's 14th OCCAC championship. Following the regular season, the team captured the Region XII District F championship this past weekend and will take part in the 16 team National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Division II National Tournament Nov. 19-21.
