Toledo, Ohio---Macy Reigelsperger (Coldwater/Coldwater, Ohio), a 5-10 middle blocker who just completed one of the best two-year runs in Owens Community College volleyball history, has signed with NCAA Division I University of Tennessee at Martin in Martin, Tenn.

Reigelsperger is the second player from this year's team to sign with a four-year school. She joins Erika Hartings (Coldwater/Coldwater, Ohio), who signed with NCAA Division II Francis Marion University earlier this month.

As a sophomore, Reigelsperger led Owens to a 40-7 overall record that included a perfect conference record (14-0), an Ohio Community College Athletic Conference (OCCAC) championship and a Region XII District F championship. Along the way, she was named First Team All-OCCAC, the OCCAC Player of the Year, the Region XII District F Player of the Year, the Region XII District F tournament MVP and made the NJCAA Division II All-National Tournament team.

In her two-year career, she was a two-time First Team All-OCCAC and First Team All-Region XII selection. She is expected to be named an NJCAA All-American once this year's teams are announced, as well. As a sophomore, she was named the OCCAC Player of the Week on Aug. 30, Sept. 6 and Oct. 11, and she was the NJCAA Player of the Week on Sept. 2. As a freshman, she was the OCCAC Player of the Week on Sept. 28.

Statistically, Reigelsperger had 295 digs, 171 blocks (62 solo), nine assists and 19 aces in addition to a single season record 623 kills as a sophomore. In her two-year career, she totaled 1,123 kills, 23 assists, 34 aces, 542 digs and 332 blocks (88 solo). She is second all-time in career kills.

Not only did Reigelsperger achieve a high kill total, she did so efficiently. After hitting .290 as a freshman, her percentage jumped to .327 as a sophomore. She closed her career with a .310 percentage.

Furthermore, Reigelsperger reached double figures in kills in 39 of the team's 47 matches this year, including every match from Sept. 30 on. She recorded a career-high 27 kills vs St. Clair County on Oct. 24, 26 kills vs Kirkwood to open the NJCAA Division II National Tournament and 24 kills in an upset of undefeated NJCAA Division I Monroe College on Oct. 10.

In the national tournament, she recorded 80 kills, 31 digs and eight blocks (four solo) over four matches. Her play helped the team go 3-1 and earn a ninth place finish in the tournament. Individually, she finished third in the nation in total kills.

Reigelsperger's play also helped Owens to a top 10 national ranking for most of the season. They finished the regular season at No. 9 in the NJCAA Division II poll.

Notes

Reigelsperger will join a talented recruiting class at University of Tennessee at Martin that also includes JUCO setter Kelly Lean, who helped lead No. 1 Parkland College to the NJCAA Division II National Championship with a 57-0 record this past fall and Macy Catlett, a libero from Westminster Christian in St. Louis, Mo.

Next fall, the team will enter its second year under the direction of head coach Jaclynn Yocum, who was previously the head coach at Columbus State Community College, a rival of Owens in the OCCAC.

"I coached against Macy in my last season at Columbus State, so I know first-hand that she is a great kid and a tremendous talent," Yocum said via UTMsports.com. "She has the ability to take over a game, and I'm expecting big things from her at UT Martin."
