2016: Smith recorded one of the best seasons in program history as a sophomore. She totaled 356 kills with a program record .412 hitting percentage over 663 attempts. She also had 10 assists, 19 aces, 69 digs and 208 blocks (28 solo). On Sept. 7, she recorded a program single match record .929 hitting percentage over 14 attempts (13 kills). She also hit .909 over 11 attempts (10 kills) against Sinclair on Oct. 21. 

In 46 matches, she hit at least .300 in 35 matches. Furthermore, she had 27 matches with at least a .400 percentage, 16 with at least a .500 percentage, nine with at least a .600 percentage and five with at least a .700 percentage. She hit above .800 three times, too.

Smith had 11 games with at least 10 kills, including a season-high 20 on Nov. 19 against Catawba Valley to help Owens clinch a third-place finish at the NJCAA Division II National Tournament. Ten of those 11 came after Oct. 14, which included a 15-match stretch. 

Smith led the team in kills, total blocks and solo blocks.

In the NJCAA Division II National Tournament, Smith produced 50 kills and 16 blocks. She hit at least .321 in three of the four matches, including a .548 hitting percentage in the third place match.

Smith earned several awards during her spectacular sophomore year. She was named First Team All-OCCAC, OCCAC player of the week on Oct. 23, First Team All-Region XII, Region XII District F all-tournament team, NJCAA Division II All-Tournament team and NJCAA Second Team All-American. Academically, she earned a spot on the OCCAC's All-Academic team in the fall semester.

Smith closed her two-year career with 475 kills, 15 assists, 19 aces, 99 digs and 301 blocks (56 solo). She finished with a .320 hitting percentage over 1,016 attempts.

Smith signed with Shawnee State University, where she joined her Owens teammate Annie Lindeman.

2015: As a freshman, Smith competed in 43 matches. In 112 sets, she had 119 kills with a .147 hitting percentage, five assists, 30 digs, 28 solo blocks, 65 assisted blocks and 93 total blocks. She finished fifth on the team in kills and second in total blocks.

Prior to Owens: Smith, who was coached by Mandy Pasley at Bowling Green, was First Team All-Northern Lakes League, First Team All-District and the team MVP as a senior. She earned First Team All-NLL and Honorable Mention All-District honors as a junior.

Personal: Tyanna is the daughter of Jennifer Lucas. She has one brother, Robert Mister.
