NOTE: FRIDAY'S MATCH WILL START AT 7 P.M. INSTEAD OF 6 P.M.

Toledo, Ohio---The No. 2 Owens Community College women's volleyball team will be raising funds for a child named Florence and the Children's Medical Missions West (CMM) during the team's regular season finale against Edison Community College at 7 p.m. on Friday in the Student Health and Activities Center (SHAC).

CMM is a 14-year old organization that has brought over 380 children to the United States for free medical care that they could not have received in their home country. Each child's airfare is also covered entirely by donations.

Specifically, on Friday, most of the money raised will go towards a child named Florence, who came to the United States and had Cleft lip and palate surgery. The rest of the money raised will go to CMM to assist with additional children who have had heart surgery, prosthetics and other medical issues. Thus, 100 percent of the money raised will go to CMM and Florence, and there is no paid staff at CMM. It's strictly volunteer, which makes donations even more important.

Some people from the organization will be at the game on Friday, and a small commitment from many will make a huge difference to many children.

Throughout the match on Friday, the Owens volleyball program will be raffling off gift baskets and hosting a 50/50 raffle. Some of the prizes include Toledo Mud Hens and Toledo Walleye tickets, Rave Motion Pictures movie tickets and Tony Packos gift cards. The team will also be auctioning off a signed team picture and individual game jerseys. For children, there will be free Halloween candy. All gate proceeds will also be donated to CMM.

The match itself is the regular season home finale for the Owens volleyball team, which is currently 33-4 overall and 12-0 in Ohio Community College Athletic Conference (OCCAC) play. They have won nine straight and already clinched at least a share of the program's 15th OCCAC championship since 1998. With one more win, the team can clinch it outright.
