Polce Earns First Career OCCAC Player of the Week Award

Toledo, Ohio---Niki Polce (Huron/New Boston, Mich.), a sophomore defensive specialist for the No. 3 Owens Community College women's volleyball team, has been named the Ohio Community College Athletic Conference (OCCAC) Division II player of the week for Aug. 21-27.

Polce had 14 digs in the team's straight set win over No. 3 Kirkwood Community College to open the season. She later had 15 digs in a win over Kansas City Kansas. Overall, she totaled 42 digs over 12 sets that also included victories over No. 11 Des Moines Area Community College and North Iowa Area Community College. All four matches were part of the Battle of the Dells Invitational in Wisconsin Dells, Wisc.

In addition to her digs, Polce recorded nine aces and three assists over the four victories. This is her first career OCCAC player of the week award.

As a freshman, Polce earned Honorable Mention All-OCCAC recognition after totaling 392 digs, 34 aces, 16 assists and six kills.

Owens (4-0) will be back in action tomorrow at 6 p.m. against Lorain County Community College on the road. The match will mark the beginning of conference play for the Express.
