Eisenhauer Totals 17 Kills, No. 3 Owens Volleyball Stays Undefeated

Toledo, Ohio---Michaela Eisenhauer (Margaretta/Castalia, Ohio) produced 17 kills, including a season-high 11 against Jackson College, as the No. 3 Owens Community College women's volleyball team improved to 7-0 with another pair of straight set victories to open the Owens Invitational on Friday.

Match 6: No. 3 Owens d. Kalamazoo Valley 25-17, 25-14, 25-6

Devon Heitkamp (New Bremen/New Bremen, Ohio) had a season-high 10 kills to lead Owens to a straight set win in the opening match. The sophomore middle blocker hit .750 and helped the team finish with a .320 percentage.

Eisenhauer added six kills, while Erika Angstmann (St. Marys/St. Marys, Ohio), Jordan Alt (Ottawa-Glandorf/Ottawa, Ohio) and Madison Lammers (New Knoxville/New Knoxville, Ohio) contributed four apiece.

The setting duo of Carrigan Gray (Liberty-Benton/Findlay, Ohio) and Summer Sweeting (South Central/North Fairfield, Ohio) combined for 30 assists, led by 17 from Gray. Niki Polce (Huron/New Boston, Mich.), who also had two assists, finished with a team-high 13 digs.

Assisting Polce in digs were Angstmann (7), Sweeting (6) and Cassidy Wlodarz (Cardinal Stritch/Oregon, Ohio) with five. Eisenhauer and Brynn DuVall (Bedford/Temperance, Mich.) also had four apiece.

Alt led Owens defensively at the net with two solo blocks and five assisted blocks.

Leah Ballenger (Fremont Ross/Fremont, Ohio) finished off the match with an ace, which was one of the team's 11 in the match. Polce (3), Wlodarz (2), Gray (2) and Angstmann (2) each had multi-ace matches.

Match 7: No. 3 Owens d. Jackson 25-7, 25-6, 25-4

Owens improved to 21-0 in sets this year behind 11 kills from Eisenhauer, 17 assists from Gray and 11 digs from Polce.

Eisenhauer did her damage on 14 attempts and zero errors (.786). Heitkamp and Angstmann each assisted her with six kills, and both did it at over a .500 clip. In fact, Owens hit .493 as a team with 37 kills and just four errors over 67 attempts.

While Gray had 17 assists, Sweeting added 11 as that duo combined for 28 of the team's 33 assists. Heitkamp and Polce each chipped in two assists. In addition to Polce's 11 digs, Gray finished second with eight while Wlodarz and Lammers each had five.

Heitkamp and Eisenhauer each had three assisted blocks.

Kennedy Ames (Milan Edison/Norwalk, Ohio) had three kills over five attempts in the match, while Ally Angstmann (St. Marys/St. Marys, Ohio) and Olivia Hermiller (Ottawa-Glandorf/Ottawa, Ohio) each had five kills.

NOTES

Owens will be back in action today against Waubonsee Community College at 11:45 a.m. before taking on Schoolcraft College at 6:45 p.m. Both match times are approximate and could start earlier or be delayed depending on the length of the prior matches.
