Eisenhauer, Angstmann Excel, No. 2 Owens Smashes Cuyahoga In Straight Sets

Toledo, Ohio---Michaela Eisenhauer (Margaretta/Castalia, Ohio) had a team-high nine kills while hitting .529 as the No. 2 Owens Community College women's volleyball team smothered Cuyahoga Community College 25-8, 25-9, 25-14 in the Student Health and Activities Center (SHAC) tonight.

With the win, Owens is now 13-0 overall and 3-0 in Ohio Community College Athletic Conference (OCCAC) play. The team has won all 39 sets this year, which is a program record for consecutive sets won, and it's a record for most consecutive straight set wins.

As a team, the Owens offense only had five attack errors. Eisenhauer had zero errors over 17 attempts, while sophomore middle blocker Devon Heitkamp (New Bremen/New Bremen, Ohio) had eight kills on just one error while hitting .500. Freshman outside hitter Ally Angstmann (St. Marys/St. Marys, Ohio) had a season-high six kills while hitting .308.

Owens totaled 35 kills and hit .395. It is the 10th time this season the Express has hit at least .300. 

Niki Polce (Huron/New Boston, Mich.) led the Owens defense with 15 digs. It was her eighth match with year with at least 10 digs.

Carrigan Gray (Liberty-Benton/Findlay, Ohio), who is second on the team in digs behind Polce, also finished second tonight with seven. Cassidy Wlodarz (Cardinal Stritch/Oregon, Ohio) and Madison Lammers (New Knoxville/New Knoxville, Ohio) each added five, while the sister tandem of Ally and Erika Angstmann (St. Marys/St. Marys, Ohio) each totaled four.

Gray, who had her four match streak of at least 20 assists snapped, still had a team-high 16 assists against Cuyahoga. With her seven digs, she extended her streak of matches with at least five to eight straight. Fresh off her first collegiate double-double, Summer Sweeting (South Central/North Fairfield, Ohio) finished second in assists with 11. She has double digit assists in every match this year.

Eisenhauer had the team's two solo blocks, and she added one block assist. Jordan Alt (Ottawa-Glandorf/Ottawa, Ohio), Heitkamp and Erika Angstmann each chipped in two block assists. Erika Angstmann also led the team with a career-high five aces.

As a team, Owens recorded 10 aces. It is the third time this season they have double digits in that category, and it's one off the team's season-high of 11 set on Sept. 1 against Jackson.

No. 2 Owens travels to face the nation's No. 5 ranked team at the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Division III poll on Friday at 6 p.m. They will then stay on the road to face Hocking College and Kent State University - Tuscarawas on Saturday. Both of those matches will be held at Hocking College.

NOTES

Owens is now 47-4 all-time against Cuyahoga. Owens volleyball head coach Sonny Lewis, who is in his 17th year with the program, is 37-0 all-time against Cuyahoga, and he has only lost one set in 17 years.

In addition to that, Lewis is now just two wins shy of 600 in his Owens career. He is 598-189 overall and 181-14 in OCCAC play. He has nine seasons with a perfect conference record.
