Toledo, Ohio---The No. 1 Owens Community College women's volleyball team swept Clark State Community College and Edison State Community College in a pair of matches at home in the Student Health and Activities Center (SHAC) this weekend.
On Friday, Devon Heitkamp (New Bremen/New Bremen, Ohio) and Jordan Alt (Ottawa-Glandorf/Ottawa, Ohio) combined for 24 kills to lead Owens to a 25-13, 25-13, 25-12 win over Clark State (4-10, 1-7 OCCAC).
Heitkamp hit .500 and totaled a game-high 14 kills. She finished just one shy of matching her season-high. It was the sixth time this season she has recorded at least 10 kills. Alt, meanwhile, totaled 10 kills at an .833 clip as she had zero errors over 12 attempts. It was the second time over the past four matches in which she recorded double digit kills.
Kennedy Ames (Milan Edison/Norwalk, Ohio) added six kills, which is one shy of matching her season-high set on Sept. 3 against Schoolcraft College. Carrigan Gray (Liberty-Benton/Findlay, Ohio) and Summer Sweeting (South Central/North Fairfield, Ohio) had 20 and 19 assists, respectively, while Niki Polce (Huron/New Boston, Mich.) added three.
Michaela Eisenhauer (Margaretta/Castalia, Ohio) and Cassidy Wlodarz (Cardinal Stritch/Oregon, Ohio) had two aces apiece, while Polce and Sweeting each had a team-high eight digs. Wlodarz and Gray each chipped in five, and Eisenhauer was next with five.
Four players recorded one block assist for Owens, who hit .430 as a team with 50 kills and 10 errors over 93 attempts.
Other contributors against Clark State include: Brynn DuVall (Bedford/Temperance, Mich.), who had three kills over seven attempts; Leah Ballenger (Fremont Ross/Fremont, Ohio), who had one kill over three attempts; Madison Lammers (New Knoxville/New Knoxville, Ohio), who had two kills over five attempts along with one ace and one dig; and Erika Angstmann (St. Marys/St. Marys, Ohio), who had three kills over five attempts.
Ally Angstmann (St. Marys/St. Marys, Ohio), who had three kills and two digs on Friday, tallied a season-high 10 kills as Owens swept Edison State 25-12, 25-19, 25-7 on Saturday afternoon. The visiting Chargers fell to 10-5 overall and 4-3 in OCCAC play.
Ally Angstmann easily topped her previous season-high of six, and she did so over 17 attempts and a .529 percentage. Heitkamp (9), Alt (8), Eisenhauer (6) and Olivia Hermiller (Ottawa-Glandorf/Ottawa, Ohio) with six also contributed in kills. Alt had her total over 12 attempts and zero errors, which gave her 18 kills and zero errors over 24 attempts this weekend.
Gray (19) and Sweeting (18) combined for 37 assists. Polce added two assists along with 10 digs and one ace. Wlodarz led the team with 11 digs, while Eisenhauer added seven and Sweeting had six. Alt also had a team-high seven block assists. Heitkamp chipped in five, while both of them each also had a solo block.
As a team, Owens hit .409 with 46 kills over 88 attempts with 10 errors. Five players had at least 10 or more attacks and each one hit at least .375. Alt hit .667, Eisenhauer hit .545, Angstmann hit .529, Hermiller hit .417 and Heitkamp finished at .375.
Other contributors included: Erika Angstmann, who finished with two kills, two block assists and one dig; Lammers, who had two kills, three block assists and two digs; and Ames, who had two kills over two attempts.

No. 1 Owens (22-0, 8-0 OCCAC) will host conference opponent Lorain County Community College (8-9, 2-5 OCCAC) at 6 p.m. on Wednesday. Then, they will travel to Hickory, N.C. for the Catawba Valley Invitational next weekend. While there, Owens will face Wallace State Community College - Hanceville (20-6), Cape Fear Community College (13-0), No. 14 Pasco-Hernando State College (8-5) and Catawba Valley Community College (14-3).
Wallace State - Hanceville is an NJCAA Division I team who defeated Owens in three sets in last year's Catawba Valley Invitational. Catawba Valley is one of the country's best NJCAA Division II teams who took Owens to five sets twice last year, including the third/fourth place match at the NJCAA Division II national tournament last year. Cape Fear, as well as Catawba Valley, is in the "others receiving votes" section of the latest NJCAA Division II poll.
