Owens Well Represented for Fall Academic Honors

Toledo, OH -- On Tuesday morning, the Ohio Community College Athletic Conference (OCCAC) announced its Academic All Conference Honorees for the 2017 Fall semesters for its member schools. Owens placed several of its student athletes in on the team in all three of our currently active programs. 

In order to be nominated for the team, a student-athlete must achieve a 3.30 GPA or higher while completing at least 12 credit hours. 

For women's volleyball, Owens placed six members on the team. Leading the pack were Erika Angstmann and Devon Heitkamp. Both ladies finished with a 4.0 GPA for the semester while pariticipating in Owens best season in school history, when the volleyball team finished as National Runner-Up in the NJCAA Divison II tournament. Four other members from the squad were a part of the team as well. This is the third time that both Angstmann and Heitkamp have been named to the OCCAC All-Academic team with 4.0 GPAs. Alison Angstmann, Michaela EisenhauerSummer Sweeting, and Cassidy Wlodarz all placed on the team as well from the women's volleyball program. 

The women's basketball team had two members who placed on the team. Olivia Frost received her third nomination to the team during her time with the Express, but Frost achieved a perfect 4.0 GPA for the first time. She is joined by fellow teammate Daichele Hatcher, who posted a 4.0 GPA as well during her first semester at Owens. 

Rounding out the Owen's top academic performers was Men's Basketball's Julian Egbo. 

In total, Owens finished with 10 nominees in total for the Fall Semester.
