Angstmann Named Female Scholar Athlete of the Year

Toledo, OH -- Erika Angstmann is leaving Owens as one of the most successful players on and off the floor as a member of the Express Volleyball program. On Monday June 25. she added another accolade to her career. The Ohio Community College Athletic Conference (OCCAC) announced that Angstmann was named as the OCCAC co-Female Scholar-Athlete of the Year along with Gabrielle Post from Lorain County Community College. 

The conference sited Angstmann's 4.0 grade point average that she carried through her entire college career as well as her play for the volleyball team. She was also named OCCAC Player of the Year, and she earned both Academic All-America and All-OCCAC First Team honors for the second straight year. She capped off the season being named a member of the Second Team All-American and the NJCAA All-Tournament team as well.

The St. Mary, OH native was instrumental in the most successful season in the history of Owens Express Volleyball at the Division II level. The team finished the season at 40-1 and they were also the National Runner-Up at the NJCAA Division II National Championships. The team ended the regular season undefeated and achieved the school's first #1 overall ranking in the national polls.
