PERRYSBURG, Ohio - The Owens Community College men’s and women’s basketball programs released their schedules on Tuesday morning (July 20). Both teams will be returning to the court for the first time since the 2019-20 season after the 2020-21 campaign was canceled due to COVID-19. The two programs will see multiple double-headers throughout the season on the schedule.
Both programs will begin the regular season with a handful of non-conference contests first traveling to face Henry Ford College on Nov. 2. The women’s game will start at 5:30 p.m. with the men’s game set for 7:30 p.m., a trend that will continue through the season.From there the non-conference road schedule will continue for both programs with games against Mott Community College on Nov. 4.
The Owens programs will have their home openers on Nov. 6 as both teams will take on Schoolcraft College. The women’s game is set for a 1 p.m. tip with the men following at 3 p.m. The two programs will stay at home on Nov. 13 against Jackson College and again on Nov. 17 when they host Delta College.
The women are set to host Henry Ford College on Nov. 30 at 5:30 p.m, the first game on the schedule that isn’t paired with a men’s game as of now.
The non-conference schedules will continue for the two programs by hosting Lansing Community College on Dec. 1 followed by Mott Community College on Dec. 6. The teams will then compete in the Delta Tournament on Dec. 11 and Dec. 12 with Delta College and Schoolcraft College.
The conference schedule will tip off for both programs on Dec. 18 when the Express travel to Fremont, Ohio to take on Terra State. The non-conference schedule will soon conclude on Dec. 22 against Macomb Community College at home.
Once the calendar flips over to 2022 the Express basketball programs will move to a Wednesday, Saturday schedule. That will begin with Bryant & Stratton (OH) on Jan. 5, Hocking College on Jan. 8, Edison Community College on Jan. 12, Lakeland Community College on Jan. 15 and Lorain County on Jan. 19.
After an off weekend, the schedule will resume on Jan. 26 on the road against Clark State before facing Hocking College on Jan. 29. Owens will be back at home to begin February on Feb. 2 with Bryant & Stratton (OH).
Another off weekend will setup the final stretch of the regular season. The Express will close out the season with Edison Community College on Feb. 9, Terra State on Feb. 12, Lorain County on Feb. 16, Lakeland on Feb. 19 and finally Clark State on Feb. 23.
Regional Tournaments for both men’s and women’s will be on Feb. 26 and 27 with Districts yet to be announced. The National Championships will span March 8-12. The women’s tournament will be in Rochester, Minn. and the men’s will take place in Rockford, Ill.
