Toledo, Ohio---Stephen Parker (Eisenhower/Macomb, Mich.), a sophomore outfielder for the Owens Community College baseball team, has signed with NAIA Madonna University to continue his collegiate playing career.

As a sophomore, Parker was one of only two players to play in all 45 games. He batted 37-for-111 (.333) with 44 runs, a team-high 13 doubles, a team-high three triples, two home runs, 35 RBI, a team-high 36 walks and four stolen bases. He posted a .506 on base percentage and a .559 slugging percentage.

In Ohio Community College Athletic Conference (OCCAC) play, he batted 10-for-37 (.270) with 14 runs, four doubles, one home run, 13 RBI, 12 walks and a .440 on base percentage.

Following the season, Parker was named to the OCCAC's All-Academic team and earned the National Junior College Athletic Association's (NJCAA) Superior Academic Achievement Award.

In his two-year career, Parker hit 62-for-215 (.288) with 70 runs, 18 doubles, four triples, two home runs, 51 RBI, 54 walks and seven stolen bases.

Parker becomes the seventh player from last year's team to sign with a four-year school. He joins Ty Suntken (NCAA Division I Bowling Green State University), Casey Gose (NCAA Division I University of Toledo), Jake Wojciechowski (NCAA Division II Saginaw Valley State University), Michael Finch (NCAA Division II Wheeling Jesuit University), Eric Hotchkiss (NCAA Division III Adrian College) and Zach Bobbitt (NAIA Cincinnati Christian University).

The Owens baseball team finished 30-15 overall last year and 11-5 in OCCAC play. They finished second in conference play during the regular season and advanced to the Sub-Region XII tournament before their season ended. The college announced the suspension of the program beginning with the 2016-17 season due to fiscal reasons.
