Express Golf Wins Columbus State Invitational

Columbus, OH---The Express golf team held off Columbus State, winners of the first two OCCAC invitationals, to capture the Columbus State Invitational on Saturday.

The Express shot 319 as a team - 10 strokes better than Columbus State at 329. Cincinnati State was third at 341, while Lakeland shot 357 and Lorain County shot 395.

Darren Gessner shot a team best 77 in the invite, while Walter Dorosh was just behind him with a 79. Gessner's 77 led all golfers in the invite.

It is the second invitational win for the Express (Defiance Inviational).

On April 10, the Express finished 3rd in the OCCAC Southern Invitational with Gessner shooting a team-best 73, which was second among all golfers. He was only one shot off the top score.

Columbus State took home first in the OCCAC Southern Invitational with a 306 team score, while Cincinnati State was second with 310. Owens was just behind Cincy with a 311.

Gessner is now the second best golfer after three OCCAC invitationals. He has shot an 84, a 73 and a 77 for an average of 78. The top score is an average of 73.67.

The next action for the Express is in the Lorain County Invitational on the 26th.
