Motley, No. 5 Owens Women Defeat Tohono O'odham 74-48, Pick Up 12th Straight Win

Palm Beach, Fla.---A balanced effort by the No. 5 Owens Community College women's basketball team keyed a 74-48 win over Tohono O'odham Community College today in the second day of the Palm Beach Holiday Classic.

Owens scored the first eight points of the game, pushed its lead to 15 over the first eight minutes and took a 19 point advantage into the half.

Following that, Zhana Randolph (Rochester/Rochester Hills, Mich.), Ashley Tunstall (Huber Heights Wayne/Dayton, Ohio) and Sierra Harley (Africentric/Columbus, Ohio) all scored in the first two minutes of the second half as Owens opened up a 46-20 lead with 18:28 left.

With the large lead and a game to play tomorrow, Owens substituted freely while leading as many as 28 to pick up the team's 12th straight victory.

Tunstall, who scored the game's first basket, secured a higher place in the Owens record book today as the sophomore forward became the 37th player in program history to achieve 500 career points. She got the milestone point via a free throw to end the first half. She finished with 11 points, a game-high 12 rebounds, three assists and one steal. 

Tatyana Reynolds (Rogers/Toledo, Ohio) had a game-high 14 points off the bench for Owens. The freshman guard went 5-for-11 from the field, including a 4-for-7 finish from 3-point range. Harley (11) and Randolph (10) also scored in double figures. 

Briana Williams (Stebbins/Dayton, Ohio) had a game-high six assists, and Harley added eight rebounds.

Marquiesha Reed had a team-high 10 points for Tohono O'odham (2-10).

Owens (12-1) will close out its trip to Florida with an 11 a.m. game against host Palm Beach State College tomorrow.
