Williams Scores Season-High 14, No. 3 Owens Breezes Past Cuyahoga 82-35

Toledo, Ohio---The No. 3 Owens Community College women's basketball team picked up its 17th straight win with an 82-35 win over Cuyahoga Community College in the Student Health and Activities Center (SHAC) tonight.

Early on, each team battled closely until Owens went on a 9-0 run over a 2:23 stretch to take a 23-10 lead with 9:37 left in the first half.

A short time later, Owens went on an 11-0 run to take a 36-13 lead with 4:01 left in the half. Zhana Randolph (Rochester Hills/Rochester Hills, Mich.) scored six points during the run. 

Owens closed the half with a 46-19 lead. Randolph led the team at the break with 11 points, while Ashley Tunstall (Huber Heights Wayne/Dayton, Ohio) had six points and 10 rebounds.

In the second half, the Owens defense held Cuyahoga to three fewer points (16) while outscoring Cuyahoga by 20. Briana Williams (Stebbins/Dayton, Ohio) led the team in the second half with nine points on 4-for-6 shooting.

Overall, Williams led the team with a season-high 14 points, two rebounds, two assists and one steal. She has scored in double figures in three of the team's past five games.

Randolph chipped in a season-high 13 points, five rebounds, five steals and three assists. She now has four double digit scoring games over the team's past six contests.

Tunstall finished with 12 points, 12 rebounds (seven offensive), three assists, three steals and one block. She now has back-to-back double-doubles to open conference play.

Kheri Motley (West Bloomfield/West Bloomfield, Mich.) picked up a start and finished with four points, a career-high 12 rebounds (six offensive), two steals and one assist. Today's game was the first double-figure rebounding game of her career.

Two others, Demy Whitaker (Notre Dame Academy/Toledo, Ohio) and Sierra Harley (Africentric/Columbus, Ohio) scored 10 points apiece.

As a team, Owens picked up 32 offensive rebounds en route to a 62-37 advantage in total rebounds. They held Cuyahoga to a 23.1 percent finish from the field, including an 0-for-6 finish from 3-point range. 

For Cuyahoga, Keri Hill was the lone player in double figures as she totaled 10 points and 11 rebounds. 

Owens is now 17-1 overall and 2-0 in OCCAC play. They will look to tie the program record for consecutive wins on Saturday with a 1 p.m. matchup against Edison Community College at home.
