No. 3 Owens Wins 21st Straight Behind Tunstall's Double-Double

Elyria, Ohio---Despite a sluggish first half, the No. 3 Owens Community College women's basketball team routed Lorain County Community College 88-37 on the road tonight.

As a team, Owens struggled offensively while finishing the first half 15-for-47 (31.9 percent) from the field, but picked it up in the second half (16-for-40, 40 percent) to shoot almost 36 percent from the game.

Sierra Harley (Africentric/Columbus, Ohio) had a solid all-around game as she totaled game-highs in points (15), assists (6) and steals (9), while adding six rebounds. She had all nine of her steals in the second half. 

Demy Whitaker (Notre Dame Academy/Toledo, Ohio) started to find her shooting stroke late in the game and finished with 13 points off the bench. She added five rebounds, two steals and an assists. 

Zhana Randolph (Rochester/Rochester Hills, Mich.) finished third on the team in scoring with 11, while finishing second on the team in steals with four. Ashley Tunstall (Huber Heights Wayne/Dayton, Ohio) and Imani Vickers (Mansfield Senior/Mansfield, Ohio) each added 10 points, while Tunstall added 12 rebounds and three assists.

Mikayla Ward (Huron/Ann Arbor, Mich.) came off the bench to produce a season-high 10 rebounds, while adding four points and two assists.

Lorain County was led by Onyx Lopez, who had 12 points.

With the win, the Owens women picked up its 21st straight win, which extends the program record. They are now 21-1 overall and 6-0 in Ohio Community College Athletic Conference (OCCAC) play, and they will travel to Cincinnati for a crucial conference matchup against rival No. 16 Cincinnati State Technical and Community College.

Lorain County fell to 5-16 overall and 0-7 in OCCAC play.
