Season-High 22 From Williams Propels No. 2 Owens To 101-71 Win Over Edison

Piqua, Ohio---Briana Williams (Stebbins/Dayton, Ohio) netted a season-high 22 points as the No. 2 Owens Community College women's basketball team routed Edison Community College 101-71 on the road today.

Williams finished a season best 8-for-12 from the field, including a 6-for-8 performance from 3-point range en route to breaking her previous season-high of 14 points. She added five rebounds, four assists and three steals.

Early on, Edison did its best to stay in the game. In fact, they led 18-16 after a jumper from Brooke Dunlevy at the 12:44 mark of the first half. At that point, though, a layup by LaKayra Carlisle (Pershing/Detroit, Mich.) started a 29-4 run by the Owens women, who took a 54-28 lead into halftime.

In the second half, Owens maintained a large advantage throughout. A 3-pointer from Sierra Harley (Africentric/Columbus, Ohio) gave Owens its largest lead, 87-47, with just under nine minutes left.

Aside from the 22 from Williams, Owens had four others reach double figures. Courizma Williams (Hughes/Cincinnati, Ohio) had 15 points, five rebounds, four assists, two steals and one block, while Harley added 12 points and five assists. Kheri Motley (West Bloomfield/West Bloomfield, Mich.) chipped in 11 points, five rebounds and three steals. Carlisle was the final player in double figures with 10.

Ashley Tunstall (Huber Heights Wayne/Dayton, Ohio) had a team-high seven rebounds, while Harley and Demy Whitaker (Notre Dame Academy/Toledo, Ohio) each had a team-high five assists. Motley, Whitaker and Briana Williams all had a team-high three steals. Cheyenne Bryant (Central Catholic/Cleveland, Ohio) added a team-high two blocks, along with eight points.

Dunlevy (28), Mikaela Oyer (19) and Aaliyah Wise (14) all reached double figures for Edison.

With today's win, Owens improves to 26-1 overall and 11-0 in OCCAC play. They extended their nation best winning streak to 26, as well. They will host Lorain County Community College at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday.

Edison falls to 3-20 overall and 2-9 in OCCAC play with the win.
