Toledo, Ohio---Ashley Tunstall (Huber Heights Wayne/Dayton, Ohio) contributed 13 points and a career-high 18 rebounds as the No. 2 Owens Community College women's basketball team tied the program record for consecutive home wins and clinched at least a share of the Ohio Community College Athletic Conference (OCCAC) title in an 85-48 win over Lorain County Community College tonight.

With the win, Owens won its 42nd straight game at home, tying the record previously set from Jan. 11, 1997 to Feb. 5, 2000. Additionally, the team won its 27th straight game overall, extending a program record, and they also extended a program record conference winning streak to 20.

Most importantly, the team captured at least a share of the OCCAC championship, and they can win it outright with a win against Columbus State on Saturday or Cincinnati State next Saturday.

Tunstall finished 6-for-9 from the field, while eight of her 18 rebounds came on the offensive glass. She added two assists, two steals and one block.

Courizma Williams (Hughes/Cincinnati, Ohio) and Demy Whitaker (Notre Dame Academy/Toledo, Ohio) each chipped in a team-high 15 points, while Zhana Randolph (Rochester/Rochester Hills, Mich.) added 13 points.

Imani Vickers (Mansfield Senior/Mansfield, Ohio) led the team in assists with six, while Briana Williams (Stebbins/Dayton, Ohio) added four. Whitaker chipped in three assists and a team-high four steals.

Early in the game, the Owens offense was slow getting started as Lorain County held a 2-0 lead for the first few minutes. Cheyenne Bryant (Central Catholic/Toledo, Ohio) entered the game with just under 17 minutes left and Owens down 2-1. She picked up a steal on her first possession, and it seemed to spark her team. Whitaker scored eight points following that, and Owens took a 17-6 lead.

Owens stretched its first half lead to as many as 28 with 2:30 remaining in the half before taking a 43-16 lead at the break. In the second half, Lorain County shot a blistering 14-for-25 (56 percent) from the field, but Owens picked up the 37 point win.

Owens is now 27-1 overall and 12-0 in Ohio Community College Athletic Conference (OCCAC) play. They will host Columbus State Community College at 1 p.m. on Saturday. It will be a matchup of the conference's first and second place teams.

Lorain County fell to 5-23 overall and 0-14 in OCCAC play with the loss.
