Motley Signs With Notre Dame College, Sixth To Move On

Toledo, Ohio---Kheri Motley (West Bloomfield/West Bloomfield, Mich.), a sophomore guard/forward on the Owens Community College women's basketball team, has signed with NCAA Division II Notre Dame College.

Motley averaged five points, 4.3 rebounds, 1.5 assists and 1.1 steals per game as a sophomore. She scored a season-high 12 points in a crucial 69-66 road win over Columbus State on Jan. 24. Additionally, she saw action in all 36 games, while starting 15 of them.

In Ohio Community College Athletic Conference (OCCAC) play, Motley averaged 5.1 points, 5.4 rebounds, 1.6 assists and 1.6 steals per game.

In her two-year career, Motley averaged 5.2 points, 4.7 rebounds, 1.4 assists and 1.2 steals per game. She totaled 338 points, 304 rebounds, 92 assists, 81 steals and 12 blocks. She started 21 of 65 career games.

Most importantly, Motley was part of the most successful sophomore class in program history. The sophomores led Owens to a 60-5 overall record, a 25-1 record in OCCAC play, back to back OCCAC titles, a Region XII District I championship, a Region XII District I runner-up finish, and a third place finish at the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Division II National Tournament. They helped the program compile winning streaks of 18 in 2013-14 and a school-record 33 straight in 2014-15.

In doing so, Motley becomes the sixth player from last year's team to sign with a four-year school. She joins Sierra Harley (Africentric/Columbus, Ohio), who signed at NCAA Division I Florida Gulf Coast University, Ashley Tunstall (Huber Heights Wayne/Dayton, Ohio), who signed at NCAA Division I Bowling Green State University, LaKayra Carlisle (Pershing/Detroit, Mich.), who signed with NCAA Division II Central State University, Demy Whitaker (Notre Dame Academy/Toledo, Ohio), who signed with NAIA University of Northwestern Ohio and Zhana Randolph (Rochester/Rochester Hills, Mich.), who signed with NAIA University of Saint Francis.

Furthermore, the Owens women's basketball program has now produced 13 four-year players in the past three seasons, including three NCAA Division I players the past two seasons - Tunstall, Harley and IPFW's Kamilah Carter (Pioneer/Ann Arbor, Mich.).

The Owens Community College women's basketball program has won 25 or more games in each of the past six seasons. Over the past three years, the team is 88-13 overall. Last year, the team went 34-2 overall and 14-0 in Ohio Community College Athletic Conference (OCCAC) play. Along the way, the team captured a school record 33 straight wins, the program's third straight Ohio Community College Athletic Conference (OCCAC) championship and its second Region XII District I championship in the past three years, as well as a third place finish in the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Division II National Tournament.

Led by 11th year head coach Mike Llanas, the team currently has a school record 44 straight regular season home winning streak and a 21 straight regular season conference winning streak. The team captured its first ever undefeated conference season last year.

Notre Dame, led by head coach Katie Hine, finished 20-12 overall last year, including a 13-9 record in the Mountain East Conference (MEC). The team won three games in the postseason before falling to West Liberty in the MEC championship game.
