Burkholder's Three Assists Lead Express Women To Third Shutout In Four Games

North East, PA---Drew Plummer scored twice, while Jill Burkholder added three assists as the Express women's soccer team shutout Mercyhurst North East Community College 4-0.

Burkholder became the fifth person in program history to record three assists in one game.

"The girls are working hard and staying disciplined in all areas of the field," said Express head coach Mary Whisler. "That is our third shutout, with outstanding play from our backs never even letting our opponents get near our goal. Another good overall team win."

Sarah Weaver also added one goal, her third of the season, and Kendra Eitniear scored her first goal of the season. Burkholder pushed her season assist total to four, while Elizabeth Theaker notched her first assist of the season.

Plummer pushed her season goal total to three.

It was the third shutout in four games for the Express as they have outscored their opponents 10-3 in that time. Moreover, they have now outscored Mercyhurst North East 19-1 in three games since the beginning of last season - eight of those goals have come from Eitniear.

The Express (3-1) will now have five days off until their next game, which is Sept. 8 at Muskegon Community College beginning at 3 p.m.
