Grindle Scores Two, Express Women Win Sixth Straight in 3-0 Shutout of Lake Michigan

Toledo, OH---Jessica Grindle scored two goals to lead the Express women's soccer team to a 3-0 win over Lake Michigan College today.

The win gives the Express their sixth straight win, four of which have come via shutout.

Grindle put the Express up 1-0 with her 14th goal of the year just 1:50 into the match. Her goal came via an assist from Elizabeth Theaker, who picked up her third assist of the year on the play.

Later, Lacee Ortman scored her third goal of the season at the 29:25 mark on an assist from Jill Burkholder to give the Express a 2-0 lead at halftime. It was Burkholder's third assist of the year.

Grindle added her 15th goal of the season, and second of the game, at the 78:17 mark. It was unassisted.

The Express dominated play, for the most part, in the game as they produced 10 shots on goal, compared to only two for Lake Michigan.

Erika Brinkman made two saves in net for the Express, while Lake Michigan's Jayme Cox made eight saves.

Notes

Grindle has been on an offensive tear during the six game Express winning streak. In those six games, she has totaled 13 goals. Furthermore, she has two hat tricks and five games with multiple goals over that same span.

Her 15 goals is the third most in a single season, while her 21 career goals puts her third on the career list. Those 21 goals have come in only 20 career games played.

During their six game winning streak, the Express (8-2 overall) have outscored the opposition 43-3.

The Express will next play on Oct. 2 against No. 14 Schoolcraft College, who are currently undefeated. The match will be on the road.
