Christian, Burkholder Lead Express Women Past Kellogg 5-1, Winning Streak Now at Nine

Battle Creek, MI---Kendyl Christian (Clay/Oregon, OH) and Jill Burkholder (Bryan/Bryan, OH) led the Express women's soccer team to a 5-1 road win over Kellogg Community College today.

With the win, the Express (11-2) extended their program-record winning streak to nine.

Burkholder got the Express on the board early with a goal just 5:21 in to give her team an early advantage. She then assisted on an Amber Burnette (Oak Harbor/Graytown, OH) goal at the 22:38 mark to push the lead to two.

Kellogg's Elizabeth Jarrard scored on a penalty kick at the 35:00 mark to pull her team within one at halftime.

In the second half, the Express got one goal from Haley Gasser (Northview/Sylvania, OH) at the 50:59 mark and two goals from Christian at the 54:30 and 89:56 marks.

Haley Kreger (Bedford/Bedford Township, MI) and Tara Preble (Lake/Millbury, OH) assisted on the final two goals by Christian.

Erika Brinkman (Kalida/Cloverdale, OH) played the entire game in goal. The only shot she faced was the penalty kick.

Notes

The next action for the Express will be Oct. 18 at home against Jackson College, who handed the Express their first loss this year on Aug. 31. The Oct. 16 match at Lorain County Community College has been canceled, and there may be an added game on that date, but nothing is confirmed yet.

Christian now has seven goals this year after today's performance, while Burkholder now has 10 goals and five assists this year. Burnette has four goals, Kreger has two assists and Preble has three assists. Gasser picked up her third goal of the season.
