Cincinnati, Ohio---Amber Burnette's (Oak Harbor/Graytown, Ohio) early second half goal was enough to propel the Owens Community College women's soccer team past Cincinnati State 1-0 on the road today.

Burnette received a pass from Jordyn Wright (Riverdale/Forest, Ohio) and deposited it past Cincinnati State goalkeeper Tressie Lewis at the 49:54 mark of the second half.

Then, along with the help of the Owens defense, Chelsie Randolph (Start/Toledo, Ohio) saved eight shots and kept Cincinnati State scoreless the rest of the way.

Owens out-shot Cincinnati State 15-9 overall and 13-8 in shots on goal. Lewis made 12 saves.

For Owens, Haley Malaczewski (Central Catholic/Toledo, Ohio) returned from injury and produced a team-high five shots on goal, along with two other shots. Burnette was second on the team with three shots - all three on goal.

Burnette's goal was her second of the season. Wright's assist was her second of the season, and she leads the team in poins.

The victory gives Owens its second 1-0 win over Cincinnati State in the past week. Last Sunday, Owens pitched a shutout at home.

Additionally, the win helps Owens improve to 4-2-1 overall. They have won four of their past five games to post a 4-1 record in Region XII play.

Owens will return home this Wednesday for a 4 p.m. matchup against Indiana Tech JV. Following that, the team will hit the road for a four-game stretch.
