Toledo, Ohio---Haley Malaczewski (Central Catholic/Toledo, Ohio) was named the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Division I women's soccer player of the week today.

She becomes the first player in program history to achieve the honor. On Oct. 17, 2012, Erika Brinkman (Kalida/Cloverdale, Ohio) was named the NJCAA Division I goalkeeper of the week.

Malaczewski, a sophomore forward, led Owens to three wins this past week while totaling five goals and two assists. In a 5-0 win over Mercyhurst North East on the road, she tallied a hat trick. Then, she picked up a goal and an assist in each of the team's wins over Lake Michigan College and Muskegon Community College on Saturday and Sunday.

Moreover, Malaczewski tallied the game-winning goals in each of those three contests.

Malaczewski, who transferred to Owens from NCAA Division I Bowling Green State University prior to this season, has team-highs in goals (8), assists (6) and points (22).

The Owens women's soccer team is 8-3-1 overall. They will take a three-game winning streak into their next matchup - Sunday at 3 p.m. at home vs Delta College.
