Toledo, Ohio---Catie Phalen, a midfielder from Lake High School in Millbury, Ohio, has signed with the Owens Community College women's soccer program.

She will join former Owens players Drew Plummer (2012), Tara Preble (2012-13) and Shelby Antonacci (2014) as one of four Lake High School graduates to play women's soccer at Owens.

Phalen, a 5'3" midfielder, was a First Team All-Northern Buckeye Conference (NBC) and Second Team All-Northwest District selection as a senior this past fall. She led Lake to a 15-4-2 overall record, an NBC championship and a regional semifinal appearance.

While playing for head coach Don Jablonski, Phalen earned NBC All-Academic honors. She was also a four-year varsity letter winner.

Phalen joins five others so far in next year's freshmen class, including Kathryn Spalding (Central Catholic H.S.), Jenna Kidd (Clay H.S.), Lynzee Richardson (Napoleon H.S.), Kaleigh Strausbaugh (Bowling Green H.S.) and Kelsey Combs (Anthony Wayne H.S.).

The Owens women's soccer team finished 14-5-2 this past fall under the guidance of first-year head coach Kenny Hewitt, who led the team to its second appearance at the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Division I national tournament. The team also captured its second straight Region XII tournament championship.
