Toledo, Ohio---The Owens Community College women's volleyball team opened the final day of the Owens Invitational with a straight set win over McHenry County College, but a five-set loss to No. 14 Muskegon Community College forced them to settle for a split.

Match 1: Owens d. McHenry 25-12, 25-19, 25-15

Deanna Smith (Riverview/Riverview, Mich.) and Jessica Cooper (Brandywine/Niles, Mich.) each had 14 assists as Owens breezed past McHenry in the opener.

Macy Reigelsperger (Coldwater/Coldwater, Ohio), who had her eight match streak of 10 or more kills snapped, produced a team-high 13 digs, along with seven kills, one solo block and two assisted blocks. Erika Hartings (Coldwater/Coldwater, Ohio) led the team in kills with eight, while adding five digs and three assisted blocks.

Amara Hemenway (Bellevue/Bellevue, Ohio) added six kills, while Ally Mikesell (St. Henry/St. Henry, Ohio) had four. Cooper and Smith combined for 28 of the team's 33 assists, while four of the other five came from Ciarra Wirick (Benjamin Logan/West Liberty, Ohio).

Wirick also added nine digs and a team-high four aces. Cooper (3) and Aricka LaVoy (Eastwood/Pemberville, Ohio) also contributed in aces. Reigelsperger had the team's lone solo block, while Mikesell and Hartings each had a team-high three assisted blocks.

Match 2: No. 14 Muskegon d. Owens 25-22, 23-25, 25-17, 19-25, 15-11

The day's second match featured a fourth set turnaround led by nine kills from Hartings, but Owens ultimately fell in five.

In fact, Hartings produced a season-high 21 kills. She had nine of the team's 16 kills in the fourth set, while only producing one attack error in the set.

The team's hitting fell off in the fifth set, however, as the team only produced six kills with six errors. Taylor Purcell (Bedford/Temperance, Mich.) played well, though, as she produced three kills on only one error in the set.

Aside from Hartings, Reigelsperger (9), Hemenway (8), Purcell (7) and Mikesell (5) each contributed in kills. Reigelsperger struggled to find her swing as she had 10 attack errors, but her former high school teammate, Hartings, picked the team up.

Smith had a team-high 25 assists, while Cooper added 18. Wirick added two, while four others each had one. Wirick produced team-highs in digs (16) and aces (2), too.

As a team, Owens set a new season-high in digs with 84 as LaVoy had 15, Cooper had 13, Reigelsperger and Smith had nine, Mikesell had eight and Hartings had seven.

Hartings led the team with three solo blocks, while Reigelsperger had a team-high four assisted blocks.

Unfortunately, while the team produced a season-high in digs, they also produced a season-low in hitting percentage as a team at .153.
