Hartings, Reigelsperger Smash Past Sinclair As Owens Volleyball Sweeps Conference Tilt

Toledo, Ohio---Erika Hartings (Coldwater/Coldwater, Ohio) produced early and often as the Owens Community College women's volleyball team swept Sinclair Community College in the SHAC tonight.

The reigning OCCAC player of the week had 14 kills and only two errors en route to a .462 hitting percentage tonight. She also added four digs and one assisted block in only three sets.

Meanwhile, her former high school teammate Macy Reigelsperger (Coldwater/Coldwater, Ohio) racked up 12 kills, along with five digs.

Ally Mikesell (St. Henry/St. Henry, Ohio) and Amara Hemenway (Bellevue/Bellevue, Ohio) each assisted in kills as they had six and five, respectively. 

Jessica Cooper (Brandywine/Niles, Mich.) had a team-high 27 assists, and Deanna Smith (Riverview/Riverview, Mich.) added 11. Those two had 38 of the team's 42 assists.

Ciarra Wirick (Benjamin Logan/West Liberty, Ohio) had a team-high 11 digs, while Aricka LaVoy (Eastwood/Pemberville, Ohio) added six. Cooper, Mikesell and Smith also each had five digs.

Record

Tonight's win helped Owens improve to 8-4 overall and 2-0 in Ohio Community College Athletic Conference (OCCAC) play. Sinclair falls to 2-5 overall and 1-1 in OCCAC play.

Notes

Owens will be back in action tomorrow at 11 a.m. against OCCAC foe Edison Community College (0-9, 0-1 OCCAC) before taking on Region XII foe St. Clair County Community College (4-2) about 2 p.m. Edison and St. Clair County will face each other following the Owens vs Edison match, so the second match start time for Owens is contigent upon when that match ends. All three matches will be held in the SHAC.

Tonight's stats for blocks are unofficial. We'll let you know, hopefully soon, when those become official following a review.

Statistical Leaders

Reigelsperger (148) still holds the team-high in kills, but Hartings (139) is inching closer. Meanwhile, in assists, there is another close battle for team-high as Smith has 238 and Cooper has 228. Next closest is Wirick with 24.

Wirick holds the team-high in digs at 181, while Reigelsperger (117) and LaVoy (112) are second and third.
