Concord, OH---The No. 2 Express golf team clinched the OCCAC championship today with a first place finish in the Lakeland Invitational at Little Mountain Golf Course.

The victory marks the fifth straight OCCAC tournament championship for the Express this year. Today marked the closest victory of the five.

The Express shot a 300 as a team, five shots better than Columbus State. Cincinnati State (309), Lakeland (324) and Lorain County (345) rounded out the five team field.

Ash Alstadt of Columbus State and Matt Nickoson of Cincinnati State each shot a 72 to take home first place individually.

The Express was led by Darren Gessner, who shot a 73 to tie for third place, while Jason Glass (74) finished just behind him, Brandon Hoelzer (75), Blaze Hogan (76), Luke Berger (76) and Walter Dorosh (77) finished in seventh through 10th place.

Timothy Dawkins was the final Express golfer. He shot an 82.

Notes

The Express captured their fourth OCCAC championship today. It is their first title since 2009.

With one OCCAC tournament left this season, the Express can't fall out of first place even with a last place finish.

Hoelzer remains in first place in the overall individual OCCAC standings, while Gessner sits in third place. Hogan and Berger are in fifth and sixth place.

The Express will host the Owens Invitational at Belmont Country Club on May 5. They will then host a Ryder Cup format tournament the following day, although that day doesn't count in OCCAC standings.
