Toledo, OH---Walter Dorosh shot a 73 amid windy conditions to lead the No. 2 Express men's golf team to a first place finish at the Owens Invitational at Belmont Country Club today.

The victory gives the Express a first place finish in all six OCCAC tournaments this year.

Dorosh's 73 was one stroke short of first place, which went to Columbus State's Ash Alstadt and his 72.

Dorosh's teammate, Brandon Hoelzer, shot a 73 to finish in third place, while Blaze Hogan's 79 put him in fifth place. Darren Gessner and Luke Berger each shot 80 and finished tied for seventh place, while Riley Robinson's 83 put him in ninth place. Jason Glass tied for 10th place with an 84.

Alex Roberts (89) and Timothy Dawkins (90) also helped the Express effort.

As a team, the Express shot a 310, while Columbus State's 317 was good for second place. Lakeland Community College (341), Cincinnati State Technical and Community College (347) and Lorain County Community College (367) rounded out the field.

All-OCCAC Honors

Alstadt won the Ohio Community College Athletic Conference (OCCAC) Player of the Year award after edging out Hoelzer on the final day. Alstadt's 73.83 average over six tournaments was just better than Hoelzer's 74.33. The difference came down to three strokes.

Despite that, the Express placed four golfers on the five person All-OCCAC First Team. Those players included Hoelzer, Gessner (75.5), Hogan (76.17) and Berger (76.17).

The Express also placed three players on the All-OCCAC Second Team, including Dorosh (77.50), Glass (79.33) and Dawkins (79.83).

It is the second consecutive First Team All-OCCAC selection for Berger, while Gessner earned All-OCCAC Second Team honors last year.

First-year Express head coach Josh Williams was named OCCAC Coach of the Year today. He has previously been an assistant coach with the program, as well as being a former player. He led the team to its first OCCAC title since 2008-09.
