Toledo, Ohio---The Owens Community College men's golf team captured first place in the Owens Fall Match Play Invitational at Belmont Country Club today.

In the end, Owens and Cincinnati State Technical and Community College's A and B teams tied for first place, forcing a three-way chip off for first place. Harrison Long (Wilnecote/Tamworth, U.K.) competed in the playoff for Owens, while Taylor Suggs and Andres Martinez competed for Cincinnati State.

Long and Martinez each placed their first ball closer to the hole than Suggs, so it came down to those two and Long placed his second shot closer to eliminate Martinez and give Owens the title.

The event was split into two nine hole competitions. Through the first nine, Owens only had two points as Long and Dru Hein (Jasper/Jasper, Ind.) each defeated their opponent. In the second nine, Long, Dominic DiGiacomo (Ocean City/Ocean City, N.J.), Hein and Wyatt Spalding (Summerfield/Petersburg, Mich.) all won, while Philippe Weppernig (Luzern, Switzerland) tied his opponent to give Owens 4.5 points.

With both rounds combined, Owens and each of Cincinnati State's team tied at 6.5 points to force the playoff.

Columbus State Community College had 5.5 points to finish fourth, while Lakeland Community College's 1.5 points put them fifth.
