Owens Golf Dominates Lourdes Fall Finale To Close Fall Season

Aurora, Ohio---It was all Owens on Sunday as all five golfers in the starting lineup finished in the top six as the Owens Community College men's golf team captured first place in the Lourdes University Fall Finale.

Owens shot a 300 (+12) as a team. Lourdes (314), Cleary University (317) and Cincinnati State Technical and Community College (324) finished just behind Owens.

Harrison Long (Wilnecote/Tamworth, U.K.) and Philippe Weppernig (Luzern, Switzerland) each shot a 72 to tie for first place. Dru Hein (Jasper/Jasper, Ind.) fired a 77 to tie for fifth. Dominic DiGiacomo (Ocean City/Ocean City, N.J.) and Wyatt Spalding (Summerfield/Petersburg, Mich.) each shot a 79 to tie Ben Torchia of Lourdes for sixth place.

Christian Bienaime (Lake Brantley/Altamonte Springs, Fla.) participated as an individual and shot an 85 to tie for 22nd.

The event was held at Barrington Golf Club and finished just before darkness took over.

Notes

Weppernig, who tied Long for first place, earned his third career medalist finish and second of this fall season. Long's medalist finish was his second of the fall season and sixth of his career.

As a team, Owens captured its fourth tournament championship of the fall season. In the only other tournament, the team finished second.

Owens will be back in action this spring to compete for its third straight national tournament appearance.
