Grindle's Return Sparks Express In 6-0 Win Over Indiana Tech JV

Fort Wayne, IN---Jessica Grindle returned to action as the Express women's soccer team shut out Indiana Tech's JV team 6-0 on the road Friday.

Grindle, in her first action since Aug. 29, scored one goal and added an assist, while Jill Burkholder and Kendra Eitniear each scored two goals.

Burkholder also had one assist, while Drew Plummer scored one goal. The team's final assists came from Haley Kreger and Jaime Sesock.

Eitniear increased her season goal total to eight - a team-high. Burkholder raised her goal total to three, and she has a team-high seven assists, as well.

Grindle, who has played in just over two games now, has two goals and two assists, while Plummer tied Sarah Weaver for the second most goals on the team at four.

Kreger's assist was her first of the season.

Erika Brinkman started in goal for the Express, while Tayler Redinger relieved her for the final 53 minutes and made two saves.

The win marked the largest win of the season for the Express, who had a previous big win of 5-0 over Cincinnati State on Aug. 25.

The Express (7-2-2 overall) will now attempt to stay on top of the Region XII standings in a matchup against Schoolcraft College on Oct. 3 at 4 p.m. The Ocelots, who lost to the Express 1-0 at Owens on Aug. 29, are 4-1-1 in the region, while the Express are 5-1-1.

With a win, the Express would be the only team in the region with only one loss.
