Burkholder, Plummer, Eitniear Score As Express Posts 3-0 Shut Out Win Over Muskegon

Toledo, OH---The Express women's soccer team got goals from Jill Burkholder, Drew Plummer and Kendra Eitniear as they shut out Muskegon Community College 3-0 today at the Owens Soccer Complex.

Burkholder put the Express up 1-0 with an unassisted goal at the 39:23 mark. Plummer would score on a header via a cross from Jessica Grindle at the 44:20 mark to give Owens a 2-0 lead at halftime.

Eitniear scored in the 89th minute for the game's final goal. It was her team-high ninth goal of the year, while Burkholder picked up the assist. It was her team-high eighth assist.

Burkholder's goal was her fourth of the year, Plummer's goal was her fifth of the year and Grindle assist was her third of the year.

Erika Brinkman played the entire 90 minutes in goal for the Express to pick up her sixth shut out of the year. She made four saves on goal.

The Express (8-2-3 overall, 6-1-2 Region XII) moved back atop the Region XII standings with the win. Their 20 points is ahead of Delta College's 18 and Schoolcraft's 17. Owens and Schoolcraft are both tied in the loss and tie columns, while Delta College has three losses. Should Owens and Schoolcraft both win out, Owens would hold the goal differential tiebreaker.

The Express are now scheduled to take on Indiana Tech University JV in a non-Region XII matchup on Tuesday at home beginning at 4 p.m.
