Jackson, MI---Four players scored as the Express women's soccer team defeated Jackson Community College 4-0 on the road today.

A scoreless game at halftime, Owens blitzed the Jets in the second half as they got goals from Jaime Sesock, Jessica Grindle, Sarah Weaver and Jill Burkholder.

Burkholder's goal came on a free kick, while Drew Plummer assisted on the first two and Sesock assisted on Weaver's goal.

Plummer's assists bring her weekend total to five after getting three yesterday against Kellogg Community College. Her seven assists this year is one away from Burkholder's team-high.

Weaver's goal brought her weekend goal total to three after scoring two against Kellogg. She now has seven goals this year, which is second on the team.

Moreover, Sesock got her third goal and fifth assist of the year against the Jets, Grindle's goal was her fifth of the year and second on the weekend, and Burkholder's goal was her sixth of the year.

Erika Brinkman started in goal for the Express and made four saves in 90 minutes of action.

The shutout was the 10th of the season for the Express, and with the win, they improve to 11-2-3 overall this year. More importantly, the Express are now one step away from securing the Region XII regular season championship.

Should the Express win against Cincinnati State next Saturday in their next and final match of the regular season, they will clinch at least a tie with Schoolcraft College for the best record in the region. However, the Express are 1-0-1 against the Ocelots this year and would hold the tiebreaker for the top seed in the Region XII postseason tournament.

The winner of the Region XII tournament plays in the district championship, where the winner of that moves on to the NJCAA D-I National Women's Soccer Tournament.
