North East, Penn.---Haley Malaczewski (Central Catholic/Toledo, Ohio) picked up her second hat trick in the past three games as the Owens Community College women's soccer team defeated Mercyhurst North East Community College 5-0 today.

Malaczewski scored twice in the first half to give Owens a two goal lead at the break. Her first goal came 10:49 into the game and was assisted by Shelby Antonacci (Lake/Perrysburg, Ohio), while her second one came at the 14:14 mark and was assisted by Kendyl Christian (Clay/Oregon, Ohio).

Malaczewski then scored just under five minutes into the second half on an assist from Kayla Lehmann (Bedford/Temperance, Mich.) Antonacci picked up the first goal of her Owens career at the 52:52 mark off an assist from Jordyn Wright (Riverdale/Forest, Ohio).

Jessica Kreger (Bedford/Temperance, Mich.) picked up the team's fifth goal, and her fifth of the season, at the 87:51 mark off a second assist from Antonacci.

Owens, who has won four of its past five games, improves to 6-3-1 with today's win. They will hit the road this weekend for back-to-back matchups against Muskegon Community College and Lake Michigan College. Both games are at 3 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday.

Malaczewski took over the team-high in goals scored with six. She is the team's leading scorer with 16 points, and she is now one of only four players in program history to have two career hat tricks. Antonacci pushed her team-high assist total up to six. Christian and Lehmann each picked up their first assist of the season.

Chelsie Randolph (Start/Toledo, Ohio) went the distance in goal for Owens. She made 11 saves, which was one short of the program's single game high - behind Erika Brinkman's (Kalida/Cloverdale, Ohio) record of 12 from Sept. 1, 2012 vs Monroe Community College. Today's shutout was the fourth of the season for Randolph.

Owens had 28 shots overall, with 17 on goal.
