Benton Harbor, Mich.---Three first half goals were enough as the Owens Community College women's soccer team defeated Lake Michigan College 3-2 on the road today.

Jessica Kreger (Bedford/Temperance, Mich.) struck first with an unassisted goal. Later, Brittany Powell (Onsted/Onsted, Mich.) scored off an assist from Haley Malaczewski (Central Catholic/Toledo, Ohio) to make it 2-0.

After Lake Michigan answered back with a goal, Malaczewski scored with just seconds left in the first half off an assist from Jordyn Wright (Riverdale/Forest, Ohio).

In the second half, Lake Michigan pulled within one and then missed on a penalty kick with less than five minutes left that would have tied the game.

Chelsie Randolph (Start/Toledo, Ohio) went the distance in goal for Owens. She made five saves.

Owens (7-3-1) will travel to Muskegon for a 3 p.m. matchup on Sunday at Muskegon Community College.

Malaczewski's goal was her team-high seventh of the season, while Kreger picked up her sixth goal. Powell's goal was her second of the season. Malaczewski's assist was her fifth of the season, while Wright's assist was her fourth of the season.
