Muskegon, Mich.---Haley Malaczewski (Central Catholic/Toledo, Ohio) scored in the 75th minute to give the Owens Community College women's soccer team a 3-2 win over Muskegon Community College on the road today.

Muskegon netted one first to take an early lead.

Shelby Antonacci (Lake/Perrysburg, Ohio), however, answered back before the half with a goal off a pass from Lacee Ortman (Southview/Sylvania, Ohio). She scored with a laser into the roof of the net from four yards out.

Muskegon took the lead, once again, when they added one more early in the second half to take the lead.

Kendyl Christian (Clay/Oregon, Ohio) responded with the game-tying goal after taking a pass from Malaczewski.

"She had the whole goal to shoot at and slotted it calmly into the corner," said Owens head women's soccer coach Kenny Hewitt.

Malaczewski then picked up the game-winner after neat footwork and a cutting pass from Jordyn Wright (Riverdale/Forest, Ohio) to give Owens its second win over Muskegon and eighth overall this year.

"The girls found a way to win and dug deep to get the result they deserved," Hewitt said. "It was an all-around great weekend for us and the girls responded brilliantly to adversity away from home."

Malaczewski's goal was her team-high eighth of the season. She has picked up two straight game-winners and scored in four of the past five games. Her assist tied her with Antonacci for the team-high at six.

Antonacci's goal was her second of the season. Christian's goal was her fourth of the season. Wright's assist was her fifth of the season. Ortman's assist was her fourth of the season.

Including their 3-2 win over Lake Michigan on the road yesterday, the Owens women are now 8-3-1 overall this year and a 6-2 record in Region XII play.

After completing a stretch of games that included four of five on the road, Owens returns home for three straight beginning with a rematch against Delta College at 3 p.m. next Sunday. Delta handed Owens a 4-1 loss earlier this year, and a win by Owens would go a long way towards securing the No. 2 seed in the Region XII tournament. Delta currently sits at 4-3 in Region XII play. Four games remain in Region XII play for Owens.
