Toledo, Ohio---Chelsie Randolph (Start/Toledo, Ohio) produced her fifth shutout of the season in goal as the Owens Community College women's soccer team defeated Delta College 2-0 at home today.

The freshman made nine saves, while Jordyn Wright (Riverdale/Forest, Ohio) scored in the first half and Brittany Powell (Onsted/Onsted, Mich.) scored in the second half.

Wright's goal came on a nice pass forward through the defense from Haley Malaczewski (Central Catholic/Toledo, Ohio), who picked up her team-high seventh assist of the season. The goal, which came at the 17:56 mark, was No. 5 on the season for Wright, who is second on the team in goals scored.

Powell, meanwhile, scored her third goal of the season and seventh of her career. It came 83:54 into the game.

Destiny Wallace made four saves in goal for Delta, who fell to 6-5-3 overall and 4-4 in Region XII play.

With the win, the Owens women improve to 9-3-1 overall and avenged an earlier 4-1 loss to Delta College on the road Sept. 13. More importantly, Owens improved its region record to 7-2 and strengthened its grasp on second place, just one game back of Schoolcraft College.

Owens will host its final homestand of the season next weekend. They will take on Jackson College at 3 p.m. on Saturday before a possibly huge match against Schoolcraft on Sunday at 3 p.m. If both teams don't lose before Sunday, the game could decide the top seed for the Region XII tournament.
